Daniel Zeballos, CCO at Illustrate My Design (IMD), will be presenting at Washington DC ACM Siggraph this Thursday on the professional editing, color, effects, and audio post software tool DaVinci Resolve. Delta's Sustainable Skies Lab is an innovative concept that seeks to address pressing environmental issues by building a research facility that encourages an interdisciplinary approach to sustainability. As part of this mission, Delta chose to partner with Illustrate My Design (IMD) to develop a conceptual architectural design and renderings for the lab. This process included extensive collaboration between both teams. Through careful consideration, Illustrate My Design was able to craft a design that fit within Delta’s goals for promoting sustainability through collaborative processes, architectural features and produced concept 3D Renderings to announce the Skies Lab at CES '23.

Nicole Hollant-Denis, AIA, NOMA, NCARB is the owner of Aaris Design Architects. For the past 20 years, she and her team have worked all over NYC’s five boroughs. . Ever since she was little, Nicole wanted to be an artist. Eventually, she decided to commit her artistic skills to a more practical career field, was accepted into Cornell’s architecture program, and never looked back.
Elise Robinson, AIA is Principal Designer at DLR Group/BGA, where her main sector of focus is K-12 projects. As a part of Bowie Gridley Architects (BGA, now part of DLR Group) for over 20 years, she’s had the opportunity to work on all aspects of designs for numerous independent schools.
With a flair for innovation, Kali Bowers is the Associate Director of Creative Innovation at JLL. In short, her job description is to visualize the highest potential for her assigned projects, and then bring those ideas to life. Kali has found that making connections and forging your own path is essential to succeed in the Real Estate industry.
Laura Holthus currently serves as the Project Manager for Ricondo’s Advanced Planning on-call services for the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Technical services have included project needs mapping with the Port of Seattle, ground transportation access planning, garage utilization and feasibility analyses, terminal modeling and expansion studies, Terminal optimization planning and concept development, and more.
Joanna Schmickel, FAIA is Principal at Cox Graae + Spack Architects, an award-winning national firm for Education, Retail, Commercial, Institutional and Residential projects. Being one of the only women at her company at first, she has demonstrated that her experience and passion surpass more than her gender. Even in her architecture school days at Syracuse University, she saw Architecture as a “man’s job.”
Yoko Yarita, AIA is the co-founder of ROKK Architecture. She has practiced Base Building, Interior Architecture for new construction and Adaptive Reuse/Renovations for two decades. Growing up in Tokyo, Japan, Yoko always had an affinity for art and math, which inspired her interest in architecture from a young age.

Virtual Reality has been part of our society for years, and at Illustrate My Design (IMD) we have been offering it as a service to our clients for a while now. In years past, it was difficult for some people to see the value of VR as it can seem cost- or tech-prohibitive, appearing to be more of a luxury for those with larger project budgets.
In this new world of the COVID-19 and social distancing, minds are changing and taking a more interested look into VR and it's almost certainly expanded and emphasized existence in our future. From safety training simulations or test-driving features of new automobile models, to virtually touring potential homes for purchase, VR is about to show the world how affordable, functional and practical its applications are in everyday society.

For the fourth year in a row, IMD’s annual Valentine's day campaign honors the women in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industry by supporting our local Girl Scouts of America. Thank you for your contribution to our workplace, our communities, and our industry.

Though still in its infancy, virtual and augmented reality are opening up new approaches to industries that for decades have been technologically stagnant. Locally based Illustrate My Design is taking a stab at the nascent tech by applying it to architecture.
Ten-year-old IMD aims to bridge the gap between professionals and non-professionals in the real estate design process by creating visual experiences for projects before shovels hit dirt.
“There’s typically a misunderstanding when engineers are putting technical drawings in front of people, and there are just nods,” co-founder Florenica Bialet said. “Ninety percent of the general public can’t imagine 3-D space – when you talk about the size of a room or ceiling height, those translations into a mental image just don’t happen for most people.”
