A MASTERCLASS IN PERSEVERANCE, MEET KATHERINE ARBOLEDA
Katherine is a tech-savvy, hard-working, and creative Project Manager commonly known as the go-to person for the Illustrate My Design team. She supports the coordination of projects and communicates directly with IMD clients regarding project needs and goals. Katherine’s passion for design and Digital graphics makes IMD a rewarding place to work. As a student at the Catholic University of Pereira in her native country of Colombia, Katherine’s interest in design ultimately led her to study Industrial Design. She noticed that there were more women in her design classes than in the Architecture courses, where men were predominant. This was not the only time she has seen the disparity of women in Architecture, and she is used to being the only woman in the room or on the call when meeting for a project. However, this does not phase Katherine, and she has many female role models who inspire her to use her voice. Katherine’s most important role models are her mother and aunts, who inspire her daily with their continuous hard work and determination. Katherine believes people like her mother, who fought for everything she accomplished, have made it possible for her to view herself as an equal and to be treated as such among her male colleagues. Katherine is also greatly inspired by Diana Trujillo, a fellow Colombian and Aerospace Engineer who came to the U.S. as a housekeeper but is now the team leader for NASA’s Mars rover, "Perseverance." Katherine’s friendliness, optimism, and dedication to her endeavors make it a pleasure to have her on the team.
