Pittsburgh Breaks Ground on it’s Terminal Modernization Program

In collaboration with the Aviation Planning and Architecture and Engineering firms on the Pittsburgh Terminal Modernization Program, IMD is proud to have contributed to a project expected to raise over 2.5 billion dollars for the local economy.

IMD attended the Pittsburg Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Terminal Modernization Program this October. The event had a large attendance of approximately 300 people. The event was held to celebrate the start of building a new airport terminal, furthering the region’s aviation legacy. This program expects to drive up to 2.5 billion dollars in economic impact and provide over 14,000 employment opportunities to the surrounding community.

Regarding the project, Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald stated, “We need to build an airport for Pittsburgh. This airport that was built when we broke ground 34 years ago was built for one airline, one corporation that didn't really think about Pittsburgh, it was all about them...This airport will show off Pittsburgh, our technology, our innovation, and all the things that we're doing."

We partnered with the terminal to provide marketing assistance. The architects for the project were Gensler + HD in association with Luis Vidal Architects. In the previous project phase, the Airport Master Plan was completed by Ricondo and Associates. We supported Ricondo on the Airport Planning phase with 3D renderings, animation, and on-site film production. Once the "A&E" contract was awarded, we continued to work on the project to develop the visuals further.

ACAA CEO, Christina Cassotis, remarked, "We're breaking ground on so much more than a building or a complex. We're really breaking ground on the region's future. This is really meant to be a bridge from where we were, to who we are, to where we're going."

A proud partner of the Pittsburg Terminal Modernization Program, Illustrate My Design (IMD) is the only woman and minority-owned Visualization studio specialized in Aviation. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Alleghany County Airport Authority.
