Lighting Design for 3D Environments

Lighting is incredibly important with the potential to elevate or ruin a scene. This evening, Daniel will be discussing the history and application of Architectural Lighting Design in both the physical and virtual worlds.

Ever since she was little, Nicole wanted to be an artist. Eventually, she decided to commit her artistic skills to a more practical career field, was accepted into Cornell’s architecture program, and never looked back.

Laura Holthus currently serves as the Project Manager for Ricondo’s Advanced Planning on-call services for the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Technical services have included project needs mapping with the Port of Seattle, ground transportation access planning, garage utilization and feasibility analyses, terminal modeling and expansion studies, Terminal optimization planning and concept development, and more.

Joanna Schmickel, FAIA is Principal at Cox Graae + Spack Architects, an award-winning national firm for Education, Retail, Commercial, Institutional and Residential projects. Being one of the only women at her company at first, she has demonstrated that her experience and passion surpass more than her gender. Even in her architecture school days at Syracuse University, she saw Architecture as a “man’s job.”

Yoko Yarita, AIA is the co-founder of ROKK Architecture. She has practiced Base Building, Interior Architecture for new construction and Adaptive Reuse/Renovations for two decades. Growing up in Tokyo, Japan, Yoko always had an affinity for art and math, which inspired her interest in architecture from a young age.
